How does Botox lift the Eyebrow
Botox, is a powerful drug, which can be used temporarily used to prevent the movement of muscles into which it is injected. It can be used to lift eyebrows in a nonsurgical alternative to a brow lift. In a Botox treatment, to lift the eyebrow the Botox is injected into the lower brow muscles. Eyebrow movement works by upper and lower muscle groups working in partnership. The upper group lift the brow and the lower group pull the brow down. By preventing movement of some of the lower brow muscles the upper lifting muscles have a stronger effect, so the brow achieves a higher natural effect. A Botox brow lift, as it is sometimes known will generally last for three to four months before a repeat treatment is required. As Botox is not a surgical treatment, the cost of this treatment is significantly less than a surgical brow lift. The treatment can lift the whole brow or just the outer part.
The Procedure
On the patients first visit, the desired outcome will be discussed to ascertain whether the Botox eyebrow lift is suitable for the client. After which several small injections are made around the brow. The procedure itself is not considered painful with the main pain being a pinch or sting when the needle is inserted into the skin. The results are visible quickly and patients require no recovery after the procedure. Some clients experience some swelling and slight bruising at the injection site but this is a temporary phenomenon. Side effects to Botox are are rare but can include drooping of the brow. If this occurs it can normally be corrected with further injections. For some patients a dermal filler can be recommended instead of Botox, however this only raise the brow by up to 3mm so is not suitable for everyone.
The cost of a Botox brow lift
The cost for this procedure will vary depending on the patients needs and how much Botox they require to create the desired effect. In the UK, the average price for treating the brows is usually in the region of £190. However, if other areas of the face are being treated at the same time many clinics offer a discount. For men, the costs of using Botox to raise the brow can be higher as their facial muscles are stronger. For men, the starting price is usually in the region of £210 to £220. If a clinic offers a price which is very low it may be that they are diluting the Botox to a greater degree before injecting it. If this in the case the effects may not last as long which will result in the cost over a period of time being higher. Prices with popular clinics can also be higher due to the greater demand.
